FAQ
Does solar work in Washington?
Solar really does work here. In fact, our solar resource is better than Germany’s, which leads the world in solar installations.
Solar panels operate most efficiently in our cooler summer weather, which means more power than in warmer climates, not less. Those panels keep on working on cloudy days too, collecting scattered light and turning it into power.
Is solar expensive?
It used to be. But not anymore. The price of solar modules has come down 50% in Washington since 2008. That means that solar is more affordable than ever. And the returns can be incredible. For you, your checkbook and the planet. To learn more about the cost of solar, click here.
But solar isn’t in my budget!
That’s why we created Simple Solar. By partnering with the Puget Sound Cooperative Credit Union, we are able to offer financing that requires little or no money down to get started. You can now access solar for your home with little upfront cost.
How does solar affect my home’s value?
A study by Berkeley Labs in California showed that homes with solar electric systems sold for a premium over comparable homes without solar. The study found that home with a 3kW system sold for an average of $17,000 more than its counterparts. Many of the home builders studied reported that offering PV as a standard resulted in faster sales and decreased carrying costs. You can read more about the study here.
How long do the modules work
Our itek solar modules are warrantied for 25 years. In addition, some of our installers guarantee the performance of your system so you can rest assured that your investment is secure.
Who backs up the warranty?
itek modules are warrantied by itek, a Washington-based company operating since 2009. The microinverters provided by BlueFrog are warrantied by APsystems, a global company with the second largest worldwide microinverter market share.
How do I make my home solar ready?
Each home is different. Our installers can assist you in determining how to prepare for your solar installation. Typically, everything is taken care of during the installation process.
If solar is so easy, why isn’t everyone doing it?
Good question. We think everyone should be. That’s why we created Simple Solar – to get the word out and to make it easy!
